Caro’s Spanish chocolate-dipped nuts and fruit
Every Caro item we carry is Spanish chocolate poured over something else. Seven products are listed. Two groups make them easy to sort, nuts and candied fruit.
On the nut side there are dark chocolate covered hazelnuts and cocoa-dusted almonds. The almonds go by piedras, Spanish for rocks. They’re toasted Larguetas dipped in chocolate, and the notes say they’re crunchy rather than overly sweet. The third nut item is the guirlachas, dark chocolate with a peanut caramel crunch.
Fruit runs from orange slices and lemon slices to figs and cherries. The candied slices are dipped by hand in 55% Caro chocolate. Several items are noted as handmade in Valencia, including the figs and the cherries.
The notes also talk about the people behind it. The Caro brothers in Aragon are third-generation chocolate makers. They buy 100% Forastero cacao grown on the Costa de Marfil in Africa. If you want more than a few cases of any of it, ask for a quote.
