Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order on salted licorice?

No. What you do need is a full case, because single units aren’t sold. We’d say most weigh somewhere between 5 and 10 kilograms. If one product’s weight matters to you, message us and we’ll tell you.

So what is salmiak, exactly?

It’s the salty licorice Finns and Swedes grow up on, and the Dutch love it too. The flavor comes from salmiak salt, which is ammonium chloride. Expect a sharp bite. Our range has pastilles and skulls. Lollipops and marshmallows too, plus some hard tires.

Do you ship salted licorice outside the US?

No. We only ship within the United States. Checkout is by card, and every order goes by the case.

Any storage tips for salted licorice?

Mostly keep damp away. Pastilles and tires go tacky in humid air, and lollipops do the same. The marshmallows like a cool, dry corner. Warmth doesn’t bother it much, which is a relief after chocolate.

Which brands do you carry?

There’s Fazer’s salty licorice Kitten from Finland. Bubs Godis from Sweden has skulls and raspberry-salmiak. Toms Pinguine pastilles come from Denmark. We also have Dunderklubba lollipops and Bilar marshmallows. Then there are the salty hard tires and a Mangini Gessetti salmiak-filled licorice. Selection shifts with availability.

Can businesses open an account?

Yes. Qualifying business buyers can open a wholesale account. Send us your business details and we’ll set you up.

Quick answer

Salted licorice is sold by the case to retail shoppers and wholesale business buyers, with no minimum order. The 32-item salmiak range covers Fazer’s Finnish licorice and Bubs Godis skulls from Sweden. Gustaf’s Double Salt buttons from Holland are in there too. We ship across the US.

Salted licorice is salmiak if you grew up in the Nordics. It’s about as divisive as candy gets. That sharp salty ammonium bite has people chasing it for life. Others wonder how anyone calls it food. For a shop that split is useful. The fans are loyal and loud, and most places can’t give them the real thing. We sell authentic Scandinavian salty licorice by the case.

The range leans Nordic. Fazer from Finland makes the salty licorice Kitten. Bubs Godis from Sweden has a whole family of salmiak, including raspberry-and-salty-licorice skulls and mini raspberry salty skulls. Toms from Denmark does Pinguine salty licorice pastilles. Dunderklubba puts a salty licorice center in its Swedish lollipops. Bilar makes Swedish salty licorice marshmallows. We also have salty hard licorice tires from Denmark. From Italy there’s a Mangini Gessetti salmiak-filled licorice.

Why salted licorice earns shelf space

Fans are the business case. Salmiak lovers might be of Scandinavian or Dutch heritage. Some are German. Others are just adventurous candy hunters. They’ll travel and pay to find it, and they remember who stocked it. Few stores carry authentic salty licorice, so you become the place people come for it. It makes a good talking point on the shelf too. First-timers treat it like a dare, and that gets them to try a bag.

Cases and shipping

Salted licorice sells wholesale by the case. You won’t find single retail units. Most cases land between 5 and 10 kilograms depending on the maker and format. Prices are per case in US dollars. We ship throughout the United States. If you’re a business buyer, you can open a wholesale account and get wholesale pricing once approved. For larger volumes, ask us for a quote.

Storage is easy. The hard items need to stay dry. That covers the pastilles and the tires. The lollipops too. Humidity softens them and makes the salmiak coating tacky. Marshmallows like a cool, dry spot so the texture holds. Heat isn’t the worry it is with chocolate. Once it’s on the shelf, salty licorice takes little looking after.

Building a salmiak section

Give fans range. We’d start with something recognizable and Nordic, like the Fazer Kitten or a Bubs Godis skull. Then vary the shapes. The Toms Pinguine pastilles and the Dunderklubba lollipops make a good pair. The salty hard tires add another texture. That lets a devoted customer fill a bag with different things. Bilar marshmallows are the softer option. The Bubs raspberry-and-salty-licorice skulls suit anyone who wants fruit against the salt. Label the section clearly so newcomers know what they’re getting into.

Salted licorice sits inside our wider wholesale licorice range, and it shares a Nordic customer base with the rest of our Scandinavian candy. The category ties so closely to one region that the Sweden wholesale candy page is worth a look. You’ll see the full Swedish lineup there, salmiak and otherwise.

Availability

These are imported Nordic candies, so stock moves with shipping cycles. Some of the specialty Bubs Godis and Dunderklubba items can get tight. If your regulars ask for certain products by name, tell us. We’ll flag low stock before you run out. Salmiak fans are loyal, but an empty shelf tests them.

Add cases to your cart from the products below, or get in touch if you want help building a salmiak selection. Larger buyers can browse everything by the case in our bulk candy range.

Becoming the salmiak destination

Being one of the few stockists is the whole advantage here. Salmiak fans will go out of their way to find authentic product. They’ll pay for it too, since almost nobody carries it. A shop that does becomes the place to go. Those customers buy deep and come back. A well-marked section helps.

The devotees don’t want one token bag. They want a basket of different shapes and intensities. The Fazer Kitten and the Bubs Godis skulls cover the familiar end. Pastilles and lollipops add format variety, and the Bilar marshmallows go soft. The deeper your selection gets, the more one salmiak lover spends per visit.

Don’t forget the curious first-timer. Salmiak’s reputation is a draw by itself. A clear label lets a newcomer take the dare, and sometimes they turn into a new devotee. A small sign saying what salty licorice is can help them commit.
